The cultivation of wine in the Roudnice region commenced in the 14th century when King Charles IV, father of the Patria (also known as the father of Czech wine), first brought vines from Burgundy to Bohemia. The vineyards were brought into the Lobkowicz family with Roudnice castle in 1603, after Lady Polyxena of Rosenberg, born Pernstein, married Zdenek Vojtech, Prince of Lobkowicz and High Chancellor of the Bohemian Kingdom for three Emperors.
Roudnice wines have continually maintained and developed their distinctive flavor for four centuries. From past decades to the present, they have recieved countless gold medals and distinctions at varios competitions, both at home and abroad, capturing the attention of connoisseurs and achieving a well-deserved place on the market. The wines of Roudnice castle cellars are best known for their unique flavor and lasting quality.
